Why Don't I Know My Purpose?

Purpose: pur·pose/ˈpərpəs/noun - the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

Often times as Christians, we struggle with finding our purpose. We dedicate our lives to Christ, and want to do what God called us on this earth to do.

Purpose.

It drives us to be a better person, and often times feels as though we are chasing after something, but just don't know what it is.

For some, God might reveal your purpose through a dream, or through another person. For others, you might just wake up one day and know what your purpose it. For me, I am still struggling with finding exactly what my purpose on earth is. I have gone through so much, and still I'm waiting to see what will come of it all.

I'm very passionate about being able to help others. Maybe that's my purpose...or one of them...maybe. Can we have more than one purpose? Absolutely. God doesn't want us to become stagnant and only do one thing, and call it quits.

God doesn't want us to only help ONE person in life and say, "Hey...I've done my good deed. I have fulfilled my purpose." No...it does not work like that. Your purpose is going to be continuous. Your well is not going to run dry after the first scoop of water is retrieved from it. The blessing God gives you is going to overflow to the point where you won't have room to receive it.

Purpose.

We all want to find it. Well, maybe not all of us, but those of us that know that we are not only here to live and die want it. We all have a purpose. Your purpose may be to give clothes and food to that homeless man you drive past every morning on your way to work. You never do, but you can't stop thinking of him. Maybe your purpose is to fulfill a need in his life.

Or your purpose may be to be a mentor to that child in your neighborhood whose parents are not active in their life. Your purpose could even be to open that non-profit organization you keep pushing off into the back of your mind. Who knows?

All I know is, that God just wants us to go. God just wants us to get started. Once we make the first move to get to where we don't quite know where we are going, God will reveal to us why we are there and why we are on that journey.

Good luck with finding your purpose.
