Do you constantly feel the need to have more, more, and more? We sometimes get so caught up in trying to obtain more to where we miss out on what is in front of us.
I am not saying that there is anything wrong with trying to get to a better place in life, or trying to upgrade your current lifestyle, but we can get to moving so fast to where we miss out on the blessings we are in possession of at this current moment.
I'm always setting goals for myself and thinking of things that I could do to make more money or to get more engagement on my online accounts. I am a blogger, so the traffic to my sites are very important.
I sometimes get so indulged in the future to where I start to miss out on the present moment.
Over the span of months, I started making a list in my mind of random things I needed and couldn't find in my house, but wasn't in a rush to go to the store and get. It was super random things like hair dye, a sewing kit, a brow pencil, edge control, and so on... like seriously, a random list.
So the other night, I was speaking with my boyfriend about how I was having a hard time breathing due to my sinus infection, so he suggested that I use some Vapor Rub. I knew I had some in my house somewhere, but just didn't quite remember where it was.
It finally dawned on me to look in my bottom bathroom drawer. I find the Vapor Rub, and guess what was next to it? Every single thing I had listed in my mind over the past few months that I needed, but could not find. Literally, every single thing I had been thinking that I needed was right beside the Vapor Rub.
As I pulled out the items one by one, God began to speak to me. He started saying, "Everything you need is right here...you don't have to look further, because you have everything you need."
I repeated that to myself... "Everything I need, is right here"... It's not in the outside world, the flesh can't give it to me... everything I need is in God.
This thought alone made me come to the realization that I need to stop looking in other places for the things I think I need, because God has already provided me with everything I need to sustain.
We can trick ourselves into thinking we need more, more, and more, but God wants us to know that what you have right now is all you currently need, so be thankful. He is not going to leave you, nor forsake you, so stop worrying yourself over something you don't have.
You can't miss what you never had.
If more is to come, it will come on its own time without you having to force it or neglect your current blessings to receive it.
It's amazing how the Spirit can speak to us through everyday, life situations. It's all about slowing down and taking the time to listen when God is speaking to us.
Don't get so focused on your next move to where you miss out on your current state. Everything in your life will work out in due time without you having to miss out on what you are experiencing in the present moment.
